Betty Barclay history dates back to 1938 when Max Berk started his business in Mannheim. After the 2nd World War the business moved to Heidelberg and bought the Betty Barclay license from the American company Jonathan Logan Group. In the Spring of 1955 the first Betty Barclay collection was produced. In 1961 the first collection of Vera Mont evening collection was created, specializing in wedding garter sets cocktail party dresses and wedding dresses . In 1968 Gil Bret collection was introduced, specializing in overcoats and jackets. Turnover exceeded 70 Million Deutsche Marks. In 1971 turnover exceeds the threshold of 100 million DM. All three brands became well established in the local market for their high quality and elegant style.
